The Society has served the interests of Taranaki's amateur artists and art lovers for over 70 years. We are based at The Gables, an historic colonial hospital dating from 1847-48 where we hold a regular programme of exhibitions of members' works, and occasional competitions judged by respected artists. We also hold workshops and art classes in our adjacent studio which is situated in a picturesque garden setting. The Gables - painting by Jude Barnes

Membership is open to all those interested in the arts, whether participants or otherwise for a small annual subscription. Benefits of membership include: access to a modern studio meeting and interacting with fellow artists use of free hanging space in The Gables meeting visitors and participating in the exhibition and workshop programmes receiving periodic newsletters opportunity to learn how exhibitions are hung discount on local art material purchases The Gables is open to the public and attended by a society member at weekends and public holidays from 1pm to 4pm.
